A Fundraiser for The Ultimate Gift of Life Foundation-NM
The Joe Mancillas Trees of Hope Festival was started to remember Joe Mancillas, to raise awareness about organ donation and to raise money to help The Ultimate Gift of Life continue working toward their mission. Joe was a native of Cloudcroft and he owned Cloudcroft Wrecker Service for over 30 years. He was known and loved by many. He waited 4 years for a kidney transplant, but Joe died in an accident before a kidney became available. The average waiting time to receive a kidney is 5-7 years!
The Mission of The Ultimate Gift of Life is to raise awareness about organ donation and increase the number of registered organ donors. This will help reduce the time patient’s wait for a transplant. In working toward this mission, The Ultimate Gift of Life has also been able to honor those that made the decision to be organ donors and give those waiting for a transplant an opportunity to share their plight. Donor Families and organ recipients are able to share their stories and show people that transplantation is about “Turning a Time of Loss Into a Time of Hope”.
The event will be held at The Lodge Pavilion in Cloudcroft again this year!
We will have tasty hors d’oeuvres prepared by The Lodge and there will be a cash bar.
The past 4 years have been fun successful events. The event is made possible each year by sponsors, volunteers, donors and participants. Area businesses and individuals sponsor the event by making monetary donations, volunteers prepare for and man the event, individuals and businesses donate items to offer as auction items and those that come to the event purchase the beautiful items. Items include beautifully decorated Christmas Trees, wreaths, and other gift items. Carl, Debbie, Michal and Erin of Carl Wood Auctioneer’s will be handling the live auction. If you know Carl and Michael, you know you will be entertained!
You won’t want to miss this year’s event. Come and start your holiday shopping with us and help raise money for a great cause. It will be held Saturday, November 23rd from 6-9pm at The Lodge Pavilion located at 199 Curlew in Cloudcroft, NM.
