The Ultimate Gift of Life is participating in the 2017 Big Give. This is a social media fundraiser which benefits non-profits in the San Antonio, TX area.
On Thursday, May 4, 2017, for one day and one day only, you will be able to go online to https://www.thebiggivesa.org/organizations/the-ultimate-gift-of-life and make a donation to help us continue to “Turn a Time of Loss Into a Time of Hope”. Our mission is to increase the number of registered organ donors through education.
In 2014, when The Ultimate Gift of life was started, 29.1% of Kerr County residents were registered as organ donors. As of March 28, 2017, 54.51% of Kerr County residents are registered as organ donors. In Gillespie County, we have increased from 28.5% to 52.7%. With nearly 120,000 individuals across the country waiting for an organ donation, education is being provided that will help everyone make an informed choice about registering as a donor. The State of Texas waiting list is over 11,000 Texans. However, the overall percentage of individuals registered is only 47%.
