Hi y’all! My name is Kirbie and my best friend Sylvia is my reason for sharing this story. She has always been a very healthy person. Well, that is until a few years ago, when she received some concerning news that her kidneys weren’t functioning as they were supposed to. News like that is always scary, especially when we had no idea all that it entailed. It was a snowball, a FAST moving snowball after that. She has been on dialysis for almost 2 years now and has been through so much! I’m sure anyone who’s gone through a similar ordeal can relate to the overwhelming amount of tests, diet changes, medication, and procedures. All of this while continuing to work a full-time, very hectic job at our local county appraisal district. She’s recently been approved for the Houston Methodist transplant list, but we all know a living donor is her best bet. I love this woman! She has been my rock through so much and loves my daughters like they are her own. Sylvia is the strongest, most loyal, understanding, lovable woman I know and I have made it my mission to do everything I can to help not only get her a donor but to also bring awareness to the overwhelming need for donors in this country. I’ve created a Facebook group called “A Kidney For Sylvia” to help get her story out there.
