Spring has brought many great opportunities for advancing the cause of organ donation. Our volunteers are fanning out across the region and finding great success with spreading the word about this important cause!
April’s events were filled with success. On Saturday, April 19th, we were at EasterFest, held at Flat Rock Park in Kerrville. We had a great crew of volunteers … Janice Anders, Diane Fischer, Martha Mason, Veronique Rochefer and Lois Schlieter … there to help register attendees and talk to those who had questions. We had 4 notebooks available and registered a total of 40 people! We gave out t-shirts to everyone who registered!
We also had a booth at Peterson Regional Medical Center. Again, great results. Thanks to the efforts of Kent Bressler, Kelli Griffith, Katy Huth Jones, Mary Krebs, Martha Mason, Veronique Rochefer and Lois Schlieter, we registered a total of 110 donors on Monday and 57 on Tuesday for a total of 167! We again gave out t-shirts and had to put in an emergency order because we ran out! We are so grateful to Lisa Winters for her help in publicizing this effort and the management of Peterson Regional Medical Center for partnering with The Ultimate Gift of Life!
So … a total of 207 registered in a four day period – how wonderful! We could not do this without all you wonderful volunteers! Every day, I am honored to hear about individuals in this community that have been touched by organ donation. As my nephew said on Monday … “you registered 110 people? That means they could help 880 people!”
We hope to do many more of these booths and presentations – and we would appreciate your help. At times, all 4-5 of our tablets and laptop were being used for registration. We are looking into getting 3-4 more so that we never have to ask someone to “wait.”
I am so proud of what we have accomplished thus far – and I know that lives will be impacted by our efforts! I thank each of you for joining this effort and making a difference.
