February 14th is National Donor Day, a day when we remember those that gave The Ultimate Gift of Life through organ donation.
In 2017, there were over 10,000 people who were successful donors and made a record breaking 34,769 transplants possible. Deceased donors also make 1.5 million tissue transplants possible each year.
Even so, there are still over 115,000 people waiting for a life saving organ transplant and on average 22 people die each day while waiting.
The Ultimate Gift of Life continues to work to increase awareness about organ donation and increase the number of registered donors because 95% of Americans say they support organ donation, but only 54% are registered. Many do not register because of some misconceptions. Many feel they are too old or have too many health issues to be an organ donor. Adults can register to be an organ and tissue donor regardless of their age or medical history.
The Ultimate Gift of Life has given donor families a platform to honor their loved ones who were organ donors. The deceased donor continues to save lives each time their story is told. We have started a quilt where each square honors a deceased donor. It is on display at some of our events.

You could help to Turn a Time of Loss Into a Time of Hope! We encourage you to tell your loved ones about your decision.
Thank you!
